Another Rebel is born.

Gooped together wing halves, potted the DS821 Servos behind the arched spar, 6100 DSM2 rxer and a 5 AA Cell 2600 nimh rxer battery. Added balsa drag spars then thinned goop on the LE, Nose and wing tips, ass AC-DC strapping tape top and bottom and some LE tape. All covered with 10 mil CP painted on the glue side with enamel. Weight is 1 lb 12 oz, or 500 pennyweight for the guys that drive on the wrong side of the road.

Made one bobo. I mounted the servos flush with the bottom of the wing forgetting about the cloro shim so I'll have to add some spoons to the exposed servo arms.

Maidened Fri PM, Scotty threw it out added a few clicks of up. Flies nice. CG is fine with the plane climbing just a bit upside down hands off.

The Ubercraft crew (Matin, Louie and Pismo) were flying a photo shoot of the highly awaited RAVEN.

Cool, looks like you managed to put the servos pretty far outboard, too. Where is your CG?
Mine looks like it'll be too far aft at 8-3/4"...as usual, I'll have to cut her open and drop in some lead. At least, she'll be ready for my next trip to Weldon...for sure this time

CG is back about 8.75.

Went to Bill's Hill late today and got some video of Chris (Quadshot) DSing the Rebel in the glass off. Flies nice. Then I nosed it on a rock and delaminated the NS. Looks like the painted glue side NS did'nt stick too well.

I'm gonna try reironing it with more heat.

I'll post as soon as I can upload the vid from my phone to Vimeo.

Took awhile but its up on Vimeo:

Nice Rockbus!
Amazing how the altitude/quality of the circuits can really add LOTS more power! I dig the loop too!!!

Ray thanks for letting me test the Rebel out. It flew so nice and clean, even keeping it going around in the light glass off until the wind picked up a little, and then it came alive like only a Rebel does. I'll tell you the latest batch of Rebel's seem to be even more magical then the previous versions. Great Plane Karl!

Fixed up the covering - Just cranked the heat up plus embedded the lead and added NS patches on the nose and ass gap. Did a test flight at noon and it flies good as new. Sure is a nice flying wing Karl.

I was going to post a mini build thread on my 170mph Rebel but I realized I only took a few build pics. Oh well, here we go...

It's your standard 46oz combat wing build…
The Basics:
ribbon spar
strapping tape
monokote
winglets
balsa elevons

The extras:
additional fg arched rod spar (next time it will be carbon ribbon but I had to experiment)
carbon drag spar
Fixed TE, 4" inboard and out
balsa winglets
5 cell batt pack
4-40 linkages

Pre-gooping is excellent for extra resilience but I don't "pre-goop" the cores for several reasons: a) because it makes it harder for me to get nice smooth cuts on the cutouts and b) I know I'll be spackling the wings and it's harder to get a superior finish gooping before spackling.

I cut the TE per Predator’s instructions, gooped the cores together and laid out the gear and spars.

Edit: oops, I didn't goop the cores together at this point, that'll come later after the sub TE spar.

I used a 5 cell AA flat pack in the stock location but I put the servos as far out as they would reasonably go and still be forward of the 8-1/2” CG. looks like they ended up 8" from the root and pushrods at 9-1/2".

HS 325’s: 10 bucks on sale, ball bearing, reasonably tight karbonite gear train, 12” leads.
Tabs removed, surfaces scuffed.
My favorite receiver, the Electron barely fits.
Switch harness
5 cell Hobbico Hydrimax AA batts. Excellent luck with these so far. I average 1900-1950mah on 2000mah rated packs

You fly, I'll buy...

BTW, Canuckengineering.com is almost a 1 stop shop for all the extras you would need for this build: Ribbon spars, 5 cell battery packs (cheaper than the one I bought from Tower, i just realized, D'oh) servos. Now we just need to convince Karl and Andrew to carry the cores
