3DHS 61" Extra 330lt

I recently acquired a prototype version of the 61" Extra, slated to replace the 57" 330sc. I'm loving the new scheme!

Description:

My plan is to build it with the following components:

Motrolfly 4315 480 kv

Castle Creations ICE80HV

BK 5001HV mini servos on ailerons and elevator, and a Savox 1290mg on rudder (I know it's a standard size servo, but it's what I've got handy- I'll swap it out when budget allows).

I'll be running a 2S 500 lipo for rx power (since the speedo I have doesn't have a BEC).

This will be my first experience with the BK servos, but their specs are out of this world for a mini servo- .03s and 147 oz/in @ 8.4v

Please feel free to post pics of your builds, and discuss the new 61 Extra here!

Definitely!

I got a wingspan measurement and weight of the airframe, it measures 57.75" w/o the differential drag tips installed, so it'll be right at 60" with them. The airframe weighs 1200g on the money, with the control linkages installed, but no other components. Can't wait to get this in the air!

Reason: Unfairness, since we can't all order one.

Settling for a 108 does not sound painful

Silly question but is this a 60" version of the new 75 and 108" version they just annouced/released. Either way I"ll be in line to get one but am hoping that its the same plane as the 74" Joe Smith recently made a video of.

From what little I've talked to Joe about it, he says it's lighter than the 57 was, but also flies a lot cleaner. It has the same scheme and look of the 75 & 108" versions.

It being lighter than the 57 is what makes me want to build it for a slightly heavier 6S power setup. I had the 57 setup on 4S 4000 and it was super floaty, I think if it were any lighter it would have been a bit "leafy" in the air.

Meh, flatspins are cool, but not worth trading off other characteristics to improve them.
