Frankenstein RC Birds "Making One out of Many"

Like just about everybody, I've got a bushel basket full of the remains of models that for one reason or another met their demise. One day, my curiosity got the best of me and I thought I would try to cobble something together out of all these various pieces into a fully functional model.

Out of that process - the ACRS' was born.

- Apprentice - Wing and Tail Feathers
- Cub - SuperCub LP fuselage
- Radian - Vertical Surface & Rudder
- Stinson - Landing Gear

In the first build I used the SuperCub LP horizontal stabilizer and elevator. Maiden flight was just simply a mess. It didn't fly for squat.

Then for some reason - I reason'd that if I am using the Apprentice Wing - wouldn't it make sense to use the Apprentice tail feathers.

Success!!! This bird is amazing! Its a hoot to bring it out of the van and put it on the flying field. Folks that have been around for a while look at it and you can see the wheels turning... "Is that A mini-Apprentice" What the heck is it?

Eventually, I do let the cat out of the bag....but, not before I've made a few laps around the patch. The model is stable in both upright and inverted flight. Take-Off roll is 'SHORT". Landing approach, with full flaps is just about a hover landing. Amazingly slow, stable, and lots of fun.

I later opted to replace the Stinson with gear that was a little more robust.

Its a really cool airplane to fly!

Nothing quite as satisfying as a good Frankenplane build.
Yours is so nice and neatly done that it looks like its supposed to be that way

I think there is nothing which Mr. Haddad can't make fly.

Question? ??

Wings from a Cloudsfly floater jet, made the fuse out of a cooler box. Powered by 2x Turnigy 450park 890kv. 8x6 props, 20amp Esc's. I'm not sure how much Battery to install, 2200mAh 3s?

here is my Franken Superstar EP- Mini Funtana wing

added a center section to the two wing sections I had , obtaining a 40" wing span.
The idea is to have a SuperStar with ailerons, without modifying the original wing.
The top color scheme does not appeal very much, it is better from the bottom.

Waiting for maiden, need better weather and health...
