Here is the 60amp hifie ESC with big BEC, forget how bid
My thought was to keep weight on the right side to counter torque.
But it can be seen the battery gets shoved left and defeats that idea.
Lateral CG is fine.

Crud some update must have set in.
I will have to figure out how to post photos yet again

It tells me my files are invalid.
Using a HTC 1???

Maiden went well on a cold frosty morning in the uk. 1 click left aileron and 2 down on elevator and was like on rails.
Had 30% expo on ailerons/elevator and 50% on rudder, didn't try the flaps as fingers were going numb after 10mins flying.
cg was perfect with the 5000mah lipo. 1/2 throttle on the 13x8 saw vertical until out of site and pulling hard. Got the impression the set up hauls it around with out effort.

Landings were .......easy , very easy. liner her up , chop the throttle and glide in.
Excellent winter hack that cost peanuts to put in the air and will do anything you tell it to.

Heh, nice maiden report, congrats At least you had some sun it seems, here it has been raining cats and dogs for two days and the forecast looks bleak.

Good News Andy!
Vertical at half T

I some times come in dead stick, other times a near harrier.
Been working on that , with the SSX & 3D Spirit it is sometimes in my grasp.

Congratulations!
Yes peanuts in relitive terms.
Have fun! Chris

Great report Andy,

As I've dived deeper and deeper into a multi-rotor addiction my planes collection has been dwindling. Except this one. This baby stays with me. I take it out all the time. In fact. I may this afternoon.

Enjoy. It's a great plane.

Wow this thread had sunk deep

Tried out a new field today and used the opportunity to give Ultra Stick #2 its 2015 shakedown. APCe 12x8 with the EMAX BL2820 on 3S is really the ticket for my flying style, I like how she cruises effortlessly on half throttle and still keep decent power and acceleration upon request

I'm still unable to find out why she needs so much aileron trim, which is a minor annoyance, but hey.

Lucky you!
Not much flying time here.
I know you probably did check, but how is the lateral CG?
Wonder about thrust angles.
Nothing up in 2015 for me

Hope the flying gets better for you
Yes lateral balance looks good. Thrust angles... It's a possibility I didn't quite consider. I kept the configuration built into the firewall but it's worth experimenting with. I suppose yaw to roll coupling could explain what's happening. From what I read and the amount of trim input, I'd have actually TOO much right thrust.

Incidentally, on another plane (a tad bit bigger and heavier) I have the same power train and the plane also require noticeable aileron trim. This may explain that... I can't remember if it rolls in the same direction as the Stick though.

Thanks for the suggestion I'll put some washers behind the mount and see what it does.

Good luck! It may be a subtle difference.
I looked up the BL2820 at HURC They have a low KV model.
With a 3 cell and a 12X8 , I bet it is plenty response and torquey!
If any thing (rear
out put shaft/collar) is rubbing on the fire wall/mount, that will impart a roll.
Sun is out! Chris

Yeah, winter has been rough. Today was the first nice day we've had on a weekend in months.
The stick still screams!

Update, just two washers behind the motor mount on the right side have almost cancelled the right thrust angle. Next flight ought to be interesting. I'd rather not forget to cancel the trim on the radio....
