I suggest you use the card as it is much easier to set up the esc with that

The esc, detects the rpm via the motor leads, and makes its calculation based on them, the software loop then feeds into the throttle loop and aims to keep the headspeed constant.

The card and the esc is all you need

Hi BA

Sorry if I misled you. I use the YEP 40a and a Kbar, and it works fine, but
I do not use governor.
Having said that, there a number of opinions as to how to set the governor.

I think post 17 might be the closest to what I understand to be correct.

Let us know how you get on.

Cheers

Hi Black Angel

Posts about governor prompted me to re-visit mine.
Started with my newly built Garrt GT450L, and used the sequence as in the link I posted to you.
Couple of random thoughts.
First of all, you enable gov store using the card, then unplug it and replace the esc wire.
Logic says you should leave the heli powered up while doing this. I did, but when I tried to spool up, nothing happened.
I can only assume when the esc is unplugged, it sees no signal, and goes to sleep.
Anyway, when you do yours, power down the model before unplugging the card.
Second, I was worried about spooling up to 100% without blades. Thought without the extra drag there was a danger of overspeeding the head.
As it happened, needn't have worried, all very sedate, however I did weigh the heli down with some magazines, and stepped well back, just in case.
Finally, I was expecting a dip in h/s when the esc registered the maximum.
In fact I got an increase in h/s. Ho hum.
Anyway, couldn't resist a quick hover, despite a howling gale.
Obviously couldn't fly for long, but enough to tell the governor has made a major difference.
Tomorrow threatens to be flyable, so I will post my impressions then, but so far, so good.

Cheers

Jef

Hi BA

I know you didn't but I have to ask.
Did you wire it up correctly?

Sorry
