Hi Ed,
The plywood panels are made of flooring underlayment (cheap). When I made the box for Thunderbird, the underlayment I got at Home Depot was Lauan plywood. This time, the material had a thin veneer of some other wood, not sure what. I applied some cherry/mahogany dye and then several coats of Helmsman Spar Urethane. No stain on the pine boards, just urethane.

I contacted Callie to provide two sets of "Lockpat II" decals in the same font as on the boat. The letters are 5" high, in machine turned gold with a green outline. She did her usual excellent work; one week from order to my door, at a very reasonable price. The inside will be padded with foam.
Beautiful job. Mind showing us a picture of the inside?

Luan is generally a cheap Phillipean mahogany veneer.

I have not posted any close up shots of the front cockpit/ dash because I still had some detail work to complete. I finally finished, so here are some pictures of the original and my version.
