I currently have two FMA Multi 4's and really like them. But would like a charger that can also discharge for storage reasons.

When you look at the Charging Scenarios listed there and for 24V it lists the PL6 at 32.3A/816W @24VDC and the PL8 at 40A/1008W @24VDC. I see a lot of posts comparing the iCharger 306 to it and they claiming the PL6 will provide the full 40A charge to 6S.

yes thats correct
powerlabs rated amps 40a, is also at the full voltage level, or 6s or 8s
eg powerlab8 = 8 by 4.2 by 40a = 1344
i doubt many others do this full power and ax voltage level. possibly at lower voltages they can

Thread too long to be useful

Some of the sticky threads in this forum have become so long that they are essentially useless to a beginner trying to extract the gold from the dross. This is one of them.

There has to be a better way to distill the wisdom of the experts into something easily digestible.

That coupled with the ever changing technology, since the thread was stickied, makes the majority of the pages, unless recent, like in the last few months, kind of obsolete.

Agreed with the above... things have progressed in a number of ways since the dates in the sticky reference guide.

So it is quit a bit of dross to sort through...
It should be archived to preserve the pearls and a new presentation begun. IMO

Yet the encouragement to castigate those who may venture queries remains in place.

I went elsewhere for advice.

Xjet made a pleasant presentation on his Youtube channel that was also timely and concise.

now I await the delivery... lol

What presentation did Xjet make on battery chargers?
I must have missed that one, just checked the site and saw nothing on chargers.

It seems as if Xjet is always going to get back to do a full review or a follow up, but it never happens...unless it has to do with FPV.

question.. is it ok to charge the Lipo on the 2s-3s bal charger and use a bit of power from it to drive the electronics at the same time?

the concept is similar to those cellphone and tablets that you can use them while charging. upto a certain amps

was thinking to fly a small charger along with the batteries , in a case of dual power solar and batteries setup

Probably not. Cellphones, tablets, etc., have special circuits for this.

funny is my solar lamps does this too

or probably have a simple circuit before the charger so I can use power from the charging source than of the batteries while charging the only to switch over to batteries when the source power is no longer available.
