Checklists

Does anyone use them? I have a poor memory especially when it comes to the night/morning before a contest so I've had to write it all down. I know they are standard for full scale pilots but I've never heard of other model pilots using them. Here's what I use. Note that it is specific to the odd stuff that I use. If I get to a contest and I find there is something else I should have brought, I'll add it to the list for the next time.

No check lists here. I have everything I need already in my radio box and my DLG support box and my tool box. I just grab them and my chair and canopy and go.

I would add testicles and a spare stopwatch battery or pacemaker battery.

I also have a spare set of car keys somewhere in case I lock myself out of the car. (know to happen)

I use checklists for everything I build, and for full scale stuff even though I've flown the same plane for over 10 years.

For RC, I use a mental (useless) checklist. I only forget what I forget, and it's only important if something doesn't go well

I am going to start using checklists. Should be pretty easy to do with smart phones these days. No excuses.

Ever show up to your favorite flying field without a transmitter? I did that once.

I've left behind joiners, transmitters, the winch, springs for my horizontal, the horizontal itself, wing bolts, tail bolts, and even once left behind the wingtips for my Supra.

Fortunately the flying field is only an hour and a half from my house.

I should use checklists, because I have been known to do those stupid, forgetful things! But I just can't bring myself to do it................

I don't have enough stuff to warrant the use of a checklist. If I did, it would be a good idea to do that.

I've left behind stuff (transmitters, batteries, tails, even wings). I now have a tool box and Sport Tube. If every slot in the box is filled, and if there are equal numbers of wings and fuselages in the Sport Tube, I'm good.

Sort of a virtual checklist.

Yours, Greg
