Darkside 200 double V-tail race quad prototype

Here's mine. Build log: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...2358660&page=1
This prototype is made out of plywood. Currently working on a even smaller rebuild out of CF and with a CCD camera. Really tight build. The handling is really agile!

Two important goals were running 6 inch props and protecting all the connectors hanging off the flight computers, so this is a bit wider than most frames. It measures 290mm from arm-tip to arm-tip. The CF is about 3.5mm thick and the arms are mounted with some pretty stout stainless M4 bolts. I left a lot of "meat" around any openings to prevent stress-fractures and minimized the holes in the arms for the same reason.

This is running my old Massive Acro32 board, the MT2204 motors from Massive's Emax Pro kit, RCTimer oneshot ESCs, and a Hawkeye video board. Rigidity is excellent, zero vibration on this thing even when I run the accelerometer multiplier way up in configurator. But it's a VERY tight build, space is at a premium. However, it's possible to access/replace every part just by removing the base plate. It's even possible to re-solder all PDB connections (except the battery) without disassembly. I have some revisions in mind but overall we're pretty happy with these.
Nicely done! I like your design principles. You can make it even smaller by tilting the props sideways and shortening the arms, at a small loss of efficiency but thats not what we're going for here
What's the AUW?

So what do you think? so far have you came across any?

actually home made quads are all base on the builders liking and suits his play style, some may like FPV racing type and some may like solely on taking nice videos, so in my opinion myslf i will build a quad to suit my requirements so i will say my quads are the best

scratch built 450

Hello, this is my 1st quad build - I scratched this one together from liteply plates and basswood square stock for the arms plus miscellaneous scraps of hardware. LG is from a trex450 clone. Side frames prevent arms from swinging open further, and a simple pushrod (one fore, one aft, each connecting a left arm with right arm) with kwik-link clevis locks them in place, preventing them from swinging closed.

Acro NAZE32/Cleanflight
Sunnysky 2212/980
APC 10x4.5
ztw spider 30a opto
2200-4000 mAh 3s LiPo
AUW: 960g (w/2200 35c Zippy compact)

NICE build almost similiar as mine, in my opinion this type of folding frame is the best for compactness .
