Though I don't really like mixes, a low throttle/down elevator mix could be set up, but yes, having the plane a tad bit nose heavy does help in landings..

58" Edge ready for maiden.

Motrolfly 4315-714
CC Talon 90 w/ bec set to 8 volts
Xoar 15x8
Hitec HS-7245MH servos
Glacier 4s 30c 4000 (Kudos to Steve T. for the battery box which will make battery changes much easier )

Took about 1.5 ounces added to the nose to balance. Programming is done and she looks great. Looking forward to a maiden tomorrow afternoon if the weather cooperates!

Today is maiden flight day!

After the death of my 30cc Aerobeez Slick 540, and the issues of too much noise at our club field, I decided it was time to go electric. After much reading on here I decided on the 58" 3DHS Edge. I must say I'm impressed with it so far. I've assembled planes from Extreme Flight, Redwing RC and Aerobeez and I think the build quality of the 3DHS brand is the better of the bunch.

This one's got the following:
T-Motor 570kv swinging a 15 x 8 APC
Gecko 85 amp ESC
(4) Align DS515M servos
Turnigy 40C 3000mah 6S Battery
Spektrum AR8000 Receiver

CG is right on at 3.75 inches with no added weight to the nose and there's room to move battery to change it either forward or back.

Now I just need to decide on which decals to apply

Maiden flights done! I really like the way this plane flies. Power is strong with the Motrolfly 4315-714, but not overkill. Super stable in high alpha. Plane lands itself, no "ballooning" on approach. Might need a tad of mix for knifedge, hard to tell in breezy conditions. Again very impressed.

This thing is a freakin rocket. I'm no 3D expert but once I got past the jitters of the first flight and trimmed it out it was very easy to fly. I flew the first 3 flights without the SFG's then put them on for the 4th. I found they make the plane more stable especially when it is as breezy as it is today. I did find an issue with the ESC. If I go to full throttle too quickly I get what sounds like a knock and pulse from the motor. If I go to full throttle in about a 2-3 second span it's fine. Other than that I really like it. I need another battery though, It's too long between flights waiting for it to charge. I have the timer set for 6 minutes and putting back about 60%. The motor and ESC are a little more than ambient temperature after the flight.
I miss the sounds and size of the 30cc slick 540 but I think I will enjoy this plane. Especially since it fits in the back of my truck without removing the wings.

It's a ZTW Gecko series 85 amp. All settings are at defaults.

Check and see if you can find out what the timing should be ( if an outrunner) probably 8khz), and then find out what your ESC is set to. If it is not set to 8khz, see if there is a means to do so. That said. a lot of people have been finding the the newer ZTW ESCs have not been working well.

Default settings on the Gecko work fine with MFs except there is an issue with some of the Geckos and quick acceleration. Contact Garret? at Altitude hobbies he has a firmware version which will cure it. You do need the program box to flash the esc. I would do it sooner rather than later, getting the knocks when you need throttle fast can end up in a lot of balsa splinters.
