Goldmine G4046 motor for EDF unit?

I ordered two rotors used on GWS 50 ducted fan units.

I have some of the litle G4046 motors. These are fairly high KV surplus motors.
My intenetions are to use the fans and motors with a home made housing to make a ducted fan unit.

These units will hopefully power a Wal Mart foam glider.

Should the housing be very close to the rotor blades?

How about hosing shape - should it taper or neck down slightly to increase velocity at the outlet?

the tips on a standard EDF should be VERY close, like 1mm close.
The shrouds normaly do not taper as they usally do not go far enough back to clear the motor housing.
The GWS is considered more of a shrouded prop, so tip clearance is not as critical, I have herd the GWS prop makes as much thrust outside the shroud as it dose inside, I have also herd the EDF 50 dose not like a decreased tailcone. But now you plan to spin the fan up alot faster than stock so EDF theory may start to come into play.
I would just experiment with a short duct 100% Fan area with it frist and see if you can find any more thrust from there.

Is that a drawing of a stock unit?

I can see how the radious end would help airflow into the inlet.

I guess the exit cone helps smooth out the vortix caused by the outlet swirl of the air (?)
