I like this one a lot. sounds pretty accurate. What's next on the list? Did you make the Smart Phone version yet?

For those who want to control/change/update the raspi when it is actually in the boat.
  1. connect the raspi to your network and let it boot up.
  2. Install putty and connect with the ip-adress of the raspi. http://www.putty.org/
    • default name: pi
    • default pass: raspberry
  3. Follow the instructions on the site: http://www.penguintutor.com/linux/tightvnc
  4. I didn't bother with the securing part of the site. When I installed the client for windows, it worked OK. I even didn't use the password option. It's not that my boat is connected to the internet all the time.
    • it uses the password from the raspberry

I didn't make a ini file, just used the downloadable version from the site.

Hi Iscold,

Start Engine 2: command: 21032;
In the file " soundfx.ini", Make sure that you have the number of engines set to 2. It should look like this:
engines: 2
If it is not set to 2, code 21032 won't do anything because there is not a second engine configured.

Start Ambient Sounds command: 21016;
This plays the ambient (background) soundfx.
Make sure you have a file named ambient.ogg in the directory: /home/pi/soundfx/data/

If it's missing or corrupt nothing will play, I have attached a copy below. Unzip it and put it in: /home/pi/soundfx/data

Blutoh,

I compile the Dutchraptor code and charge it on Arduino UNO.

I change the archive soundfx.ini in Raspberry using FileZila software.

I am using "putty" to communicate with Rasp by network. When I start mnuSoundfx.py I can hear something like "I,I,sir" and when start 11000 , I can hear gas engine sound on speakers, but nothing with commands 21032 and 21016.

I am using an Arduino Uno connected to Rasp by USB cable. When I switch on, I can hear something like "I,I,sir". Then I conclude that autostart is OK.

But, when I press any command pushbutton there is no sound on speakers. The TX led on Arduino blink.

I think the problem is the communication between Arduino Uno and Rasp.

I will continue to try on my system.

Regards

Iscold,
Did you allready try to look up the actual name of the arduino woth: dmesg | grep tty
It looks like a communication problem. On the other hand, if the 21032 sound doesn't work with putty, there might be another problem like a corrupt sound file or the sounds are in the wrong place. When you use another sound command, does that work?

When there is a communication error like that the wrong tty, the autostart will work and it will say I I sir, but then quits.

Dutchraptor,

Did you allready try to look up the actual name of the arduino woth: dmesg | grep tty Sorry, but I can not understand the above statement.

Yes, I think this is a communication problem. I try to edit the soundfx.ini archive and change the communication port. I change for ttyUSB1 and nothing happens. Then I change back this archive.

Yes, when I use all engines commands (each rotation) all is OK.

The next step will be erase all archives in Rasp and install again.

Regards

Dutchraptor,

I missing to say that all engines sounds goes to speakers only when I am using putty.
By Arduino UNO no sound.

Just out of curiousity. Did you add the reset/kill button? try to disable it in the arduino sketch-file. You do need to have the switches in the boat for the engines, ambient and crew. The other functions are an interpretation from the transmiter channel.

To check which commands are send from the arduino, you can hook it up to your normal computer and use the serial monitor to see what it receives. If you're not using the remote switchable sounds, comment them out (with a //). They will otherwise be kept send and hogging up the line.

good luck

Danny
