FT Bloody Wonder; the power pod and fuselage are constructed of fiber-glassed balsa while the wing and empennage are typical dollar store foam. The DIY landing gear is bent from 1/16" x 1/2" aluminum bar stock and screwed through the power pod into a plywood backing plate. The 1970s vintage color scheme is accomplished with packing tape. It will run a Suppo 2217/7 with a 30amp ESC and a LemonRx stabilizer (hopefully I get the Tx settings correct for this receiver)

On deck is a new Flyer with a Suppo 2208/14 and nerdnics Mig3 which will house a Suppo 2217/6 with a 40amp ESC...

Nice. I'm not sure on your timeframe but I'm designing a standard wing for my MiG that will work better with slow speed set ups.

Thanks Nick. Probably in a few weeks. The Suppo I have is similar, if not a bit faster than the beef motor. Would that benefit from your standard wing or is the current design suitable for that power package?

The suppo you have will work fine but at anything less than half throttle it might be tricky. The speed wing just has a high stall speed so that introduces challenges.

The standard wing should reduce the stall speed by a lot and offer great performance at all speeds.

Got it...

No pressure but do you have a time frame on that? I'm not pushing you just thinking maybe I can squeak in another build before the Mig if it's going to be a while...

Plans for the standard wing are done, just need to build and flight test. I'm shooting for mid next week for release.

Stealth Versa Wing

Here's my latest project. It's a FT Versa Wing that I vacuum formed some parts for to give it a stealth bomber look. I posted an article about the build and how I made the vacuum former on Flite Test. Here's a link if anyone wants to check it out.

Four Flite Test planes so far...

I have built four Flite Test planes so far... The Versa, The Bloody Wonder, The Storch and the Monster... The Kraken which has morphed into the Northrup N9M-B. Good designs and great flyers!

The N9M-B "Kraken" (0 min 44 sec)

Hi,
I use depron + tape cover
My first attempt was a Versa wing with a 24gr motor, a great wing.

Then I try a blunt nose Versa 75% scale down. Failed

I maiden last week a Bloody wonder with a 24gr motor and a 75% Viggen (about 21" wingspan) with a 50mm EDF

FliteTest Bloody Wonder (2 min 0 sec)

FliteTest Mini Viggen (3 min 13 sec)

The Spitfire is finally ready to fly!

Flying weather has been hard to come by here in the PNW now that fall winds have begun, so I decided to build the FT Spitfire that was on my waiting list. I wanted to take it a little beyond the usual FT build into what I usually refer to as "sortascale," so I spent some time on the decoration.

The pics I shot the other day looked pretty good so I decided they needed more than the shop as a background.

As soon as the winds give me a break, I'll get a maiden video.

That's some nice artwork right there. Confirms my need for an airbrush.
