This happens when you mis-match versions of the Multiwii Sketch and MultiWiiConf.

What version of the sketch did you flash?

All sticks centered at 1500 and End points go from 1000 to 2000 as seen in the MWconf.exe gui (Not in the TX menu), Right?
Which MW sketch are you using? The one Whitespy put in the Flip?

What are the minthrottle and maxthrottle values in config.h?
Which FC do you have defined? Should be "#define FLYDUINO_MPU"

Thanks for the quick responses -

Sketch is Multiwii_Flip_Pimped (don't find a version number)-Witespy says install this if you install the "Pimp Your Flip" card.
Multiwii Config is Version 0

What versions should I be running?

Sticks are centered at 1500, end points are 1000-2000
Minthrottle is 980, maxthrottle is 2025
the FLYDUINO_MPU is defined

Use this sketch: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3ptxpweso...IMPED.zip?dl=0

Use this Multiwii Config:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3ptxpweso...onf23.zip?dl=0

Those will get you on the same version and eliminate one of the most common causes of the half throttle start.

Also, it is worthwhile to load the clear eeprom sketch before re-flashing, just in case..

Thanks to all who gave advice. Reloading the sketches and getting the versions synced did the trick. Quad now flies quite well.

Just for grins I am planning to add a GPS to this quad. Got the boards from Witespy but hookup and wiring details are sorely lacking. Does anyone have this data handy or can you point me to a location where I can get the info. Wiring diagrams would be nice.

thanks again

You would be better off making this quad your Acro bird. Get the Witespy Multiwii Pro EZ 3.0 Blacked Mag edition build you a second bird for Mission adventures take advantage of features such as return to home, waypoints, etc. Your GPS plug and play on this board. It's $39. Good luck, Joe

You're welcome. The FLIP's are fantastic boards. Learn to fly in ACRO mode. Just fly the heck out of it until you learn to make it do anything you want it to without even thinking about it. Do that and you can fly circles around those that depend on the assist modes. Do something to help you with orientation. Night flying is a great way to learn Acro mode. See my photo with my LED scorpion tail on my quad. Jack helps on my FLIP tricopter. Learn to fly your multis just like an RC plane. Will make a better multi pilot out of you in the long run. Then if you go on to autonomous or FPV you will have better success. Always a good thing if you can take over manually and fly your ship back home if it gets itself in trouble: ) Main thing is have fun while you're learning.
