AR6400: Is there an equivalent Rx with all channels plugged in?

I am looking at building a twinboom pusher about Su26 size.

It would be great to mount rudder and elevator servos at the control surfaces, with wires running fwd to an Rx without integral servos for these channels.

Is there anything on the market or will I have to perform some soldering trickery on a "normal" brick?

Cheers

Andrew

What kind of motor / prop combo are you thinking of using? What will the wingspan and AUW targets be?

There is this one(but the esc is brushless):

And that Rx with gyro(also brushless):

Also the HK SuperMicro line:

Well, if you have a programmable transmiter (DX6i and higher) you could use two mixes to output elevator and rudder signals to the gear and the flap ports and hook external servos to them I suppose.

Or get the Hobby King R415 receiver, it's 4 channel but lacks an onboard ESC.

Or use the MiG-15 receiver, but that's if you want brushless and if you feel you could benefit from the AS3X system.

Let us know some more details about your project.

Or use one of the DT servo RXs http://www.deltang.co.uk/

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions, guys!

The aeroplane I am proposing will be the third in a line of pushers, the first two have been well bashed over the last year and are seriously shabby now.

My thinking was as follows:

Loved the Su26, which really sharpened my indoor flying skills but repeated nose "contact" with walls, floor etc. quickly junked the front fuselage. (OK, my skills still need some work )

I wanted a replacement aerobatic airframe for the guts; similar wing area , but with 2 cell BL power-train and more bounce-ability. (Hence pusher config.)

Picture 1 below was my initial CAD layout.

Mark 1 "Lightning Bug" (picture 2) has an EPP foam profile pod/boom with a cambered 3mm depron wing. A carbon tube is the straight leading edge for ding resistance. Push-rods from the Rx were located alongside the tailboom. It flew well, but looked a real lash-up with gear velcroed on the outside...

Mark 2 used a "proper" box pod with all the gear inside. (Picture 3) It used a stiffer boom (carbon), and a similar control layout.

Both these suffered from poor inverted behaviour and non-linear roll rate. (low-slung CG and cambered wing) A season later these are still flying and taking the punishment, so I think it is time for...

MK3
  • Symmetrical aerofoil.
  • All major equipment on vertical centreline.
  • Twin-boom arrangement.
  • All 4 servos located at control surfaces.

More to follow on next post..

Cheers All!
