Rick, It depends on the foam itself. Best rule is to always test first on a piece of scrap foam.
If it's like the Stryker from Horizon, the foam used (EPP if I remember correctly) the proper cleaning solvent for it is acetone. Use that on a GWS bird and there will be nothing left.
And dependent on the foam too, some paints have a really tough time sticking to them.
You could always shoot a couple of coats of water based polyurethane over the foam.
Once set up, you can use paints that would normally damage the foam. in light coats.
DO NOT use regular polyurethane, it has ingredients that can attack some foams.
