Mtg minutes
IMSF Minutes Tuesday, November 20, 2012 Room N3005 at Salt Lake County Complex Meeting formally started at about 7:15pm Attendance: 14 Conducting: Scott Hinckley, Vice President Officer final nominations & elections Nominations from October: Tom Hoopes, President Allan McKay, Vice President Steve Reed, Secretary/Treasurer There were no further nominations, so those nominated above were elected as the 2013 IMSF officers Show-n-tell: Allan Mckay showed a reinforced Radian fuselage that he had cleanly broken the nose on—spruce reinforcements in the nose back to the wing; carbon on th top and sides in back of wing, and in the fin. Weight added was about 1 ounce. Tom Hoopes showed the Castle Creations BEC (Battery Eliminator Circuit) for using Lithium batteries for receivers and servos. The output voltage can be adjusted by .1 volts from 4.8 to 9 volts using Castle Link on a computer. Tom also explained some of the software changes made to the Sirius Charge that he would be installing later. Dick Bean showed his new Fr3aK DLG that is Made in the USA. Hollow molded wing (glass/carbon with Rohacell core). Less expensive than European, but not cheap. Scott Hinckley talked about the development of the ¼ scale wood Olympia IIb design out of Australia. Designed in 3D CAD, 95% laser cut parts with balsa skins. He brought the fuselage put together but not glued; photo attached. No, the kit is not yet, and may never be, available. A build log will be on RC Groups later. Sirius Charge software update by Tom Hoopes For those who brought the new model Sirius Chargers to the meeting, Tom installed his latest software updates. While Tom was installing the charger updates, it was planned to show some interesting YouTube glider videos. This is an occasion where everything went wrong. The projector and screen were ordered 2 weeks before the meeting, but did not show up. Links to the videos were ready to go, but the Guest wifi in the building would not allow streaming. Soooo, I have included the annotated links below (link, what it is, time). Next time (?), download YouTube videos and have them on the computer; don’t depend on someone else’s wifi.
