Hacker Master Spin 99 opto ESC

I have a Hacker Master Spin 99 opto that is a back-up for my pattern planes. I'm assembling a TT X50e heli with the Ace TT 50/06-5H motor (630kv) and plan to use the stock 15 tooth pinion and the 135 tooth main gear. I have Thunder Power 4400mah 10s 45c batteries. Currently I can hover do some forward flight. At best, I may do some mild 3d in the future. Does anyone have experience with this ESC? Also there is a normal heli and a two governor modes. I'd like to limit my head speeds to around 2100 RPM. Any suggestions on setting up the governor?

I've got 3 of those currently in helicopters, and have had a few in planes in the past. Great ESC. You might be a bit overgeared with that setup, resulting in pretty high surge currents. I'd be a bit worried about that. It computes to 2590 rpms capable, and you want to govern to 2100. Thats a LOT of headroom.I always shoot for the absolute minimum headroom that will serve the purpose to lower the surge currents. I normally end up with 100rpm or so of headroom. What concerns me with your setup is that the extreme headroom means you're going heat thinks up more at lower throttle percentages, and the surge currents are going to be dramatically high. I would suggest at the minimum using a smaller pinion.
I fly and X50E, using a 580KV motor and the smallest, 13 tooth pinion, on 10S. . that only computes to 2066 rpms, and I fly modes of 1980 and 1800 with it. It works fine at 1980 with enough headroom there. I know I got off track as this was about the spin99 ESC (which works great, by the way), but I saw your proposed setup and i'd be worried about heating things up. I haven't seen any fire issues with the spins when they're way overgeared like some other ESC's have, but I still wouldn't do it.It's sort of a waste. i think if you put the 13 tooth pinion on there, and govern at 2100 You'll be OK. Still overgeared quite a bit, but would be much kinder on the esc and motor <G>
