I knew your thread (subscribed to it) and I was this close to building according to your plans, but I figured there was a lot more to mess up when cutting the foam, so I decided I would do the layered white foam for now. I figured your plan will be much beter but only if cut with a Phlat printer or equivalent. I will see how the performance of my baby is and maybe one of your kits is in the future! They look really nice! |

Have you tried leaving the skins on yet? It sounds like you would enjoy having the extra strength it can afford. I don't remove it unless I want to get better glue adhesion in that area. And I don't paint (only colored tape) so the skin it fine left in place.

I maidened it yesterday. It flew well, easy to control, you can slow down to a crawl and it can be quite fast too with the setup I am using (2000KV, 2S batt, 5 inch prop) Thanks again for a great plane. Now to get my son to learn it. |

Wheel and Airfoil Questions
Hi BB Fans:
I have 4 questions: 3 about wheels for the BB: Shown in your 2nd pic in post #4813. are wheels that look fairly wide that I might like to use. Where can I get them? In post #6369: Quote:
Finally in #5760 you mention DuBro wheels: Quote:
BB Airfoil: You talk about the Rankin 4-40 airfoil and I have asked you directly about it. Did Tony actually use this airfoil or did you modify the 33 inch BB you made to the 4-40? I appreciate you are very busy. I thank you for your time with my questions. - Jim Holliman Tulsa, OK |

need help
I am new to rc foam building and would like to give it a try. Found your plans and really need some step by step instructions on the build process. I have a motor, esc and servos from an indoor plane I crashed. I would like to rebuild it as an indoor 24" foam version of the Blu-Baby. Do you have build instruction and or a video that I could watch. Need specifics as to where to place everything. Thanks in advance.

This thread has a summary of all of the Tony65x55 planes and planes and tons of other good info:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=997484 Browse that for links to a lot of good into on BB 33 (and other plane) building. If there is one single thread with a step by step build of a BB 33 I am not aware of it. But this thread on building the "Oshkosh Special" covers the process well. There is a list of the steps in the build and the build starts on page two: **"Oshkosh Special" with video and plans** - http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1040899 Good luck with the build, don't be afraid to ask questions here. When/if you start asking questions, mention the wing you intend to build (UC, KFm2, KFm3, etc.) and the material (FFF, Depron, Readiboard, etc.) you are using as it can make a difference Jack |

I widened the monoblock to 2 inches. I made no other aerodynamic changes. Also, the designer himself, in the very first post in this thread, says he used the 4-40 airfoil. |

I have one with the HK 1806 2500 Kv motor on it. 400-900 mAh 2S battery and GWS 6X3 prop. Tons of power (as in unlimited vertical) and will cruise around till you get tired of it. Oh Yeah and does it all on less than 10A, so a 10-12A ESC is fine.

Hi Paul,
There are many suitable motors for the 24". What kind of performance are you after? An E-flite Park 250 (2200 kv) is a real hoot on that plane and will haul it well with floats too. Though this is on the high cost end at ~$30. Some motors that have got my attention lately are the Turnigy 2211 motors. Available in several Kvs, something near 2000 would be my choice. Plenty of pull on 2s while swinging a 7x3.5 prop. These motors are in the $10 range and really run smooth and quiet. 16g 1700 Kv 2300 Kv Though out of stock at the moment this Turnigy Easy Match Park 250 with 2200 Kv is a strong runner as well. Ken
