Light and Simple Funjet for FPV

So now that I have my Twinstar setup exactly as I want it, Im thinking about a faster but lighter & more simple setup with a Funjet.

I'm thinkin' a 1800 or a 2200 3 cell, light cheap camera, light cheap tx & small, simple OSD just for voltage numbers.

I'd like to see what everyone else has in the way of a light & simple funjet.

Thanks in advance!

I wish these guys didn't more than double the price of the $9 OSD. Hopefully someone comes up with something similar for those of use that just want voltage numbers.

I had the same idea. I wanted something to fly low and fast to weave in and out of things. I was thinking something like

Motor: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=4197

ESC: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=14872

Battery: 2200mah 3s

vTx: Lawmate 2.4 500mw

Camera: KX171 low voltage

Antennas: Clover leaf on the vTx and Skewer Planar Wheel on Rx

Tx: 72mhz

OSD: maybe have the once $9 osd, but i don't think it would be necessary.

I figured this would be a pretty good light setup and i would be able to have a solid video for about a mile in all directions and not have to worry about dropouts when flying around obsticles and banking hard thanks to IBCrazy's CP antennas.

I can't believe i didn't know about the hobbyking OSD!

Well all that added up comes out to be about $250. I might have to sell a few things and get one of these started.

The motor you linked I think is a bit too heavy. A 60gram or lighter would be better. Even 5 gram servos for this application.

ESC looks good.

If we're talking light and cheap, here would be my list...

Funjet.

OSD http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...dProduct=16662

Servos http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...idProduct=8609

Flight pack http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...dProduct=11905

Video Pack http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...dProduct=16676

ESC: http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...dProduct=15442

SunSky 1.2 VTX & Ib Crazy Super omni antennas

Not to reignite the 1 battery vs 2 battery argument but the main
reason I have for flying 2 batteries on my planes without an OSD is so I will still have video after the flight pack runs dry. I usually fly with a video battery that has about 2X the run time of the flight pack. I fly upwind with enough altitude that I can glide home. While I try not to fly to cutoff on the flight pack it does sometimes happen.

Not simple and not the lightest, but this is THE setup for a funjet...

EZOSD
EZTracker
UHF system

This brings the FJ alive...

I loved making this video. It was first time with UHF and I wanted to see how far / high /fast I could go in 1 hour. It's capable of much more of course

http://www.vimeo.com/13828588

I'm running 2.4g on video

Single battery. I've been out past 2k on a few occasions with no motor. Plenty left for video.... FJ glides surprisingly well. I'm not against 2, but keep the FJ as light as you can.

With regard to the Esc, I've had two hk SS escs that worked fine, I've had maybe 5 that either smoked motors, themselves or nvr worked at all. Imo they should be avoided!

For a very cheap setup I'd go with

http://www.helidirect.com/hobbywing-...pto-p-4397.hdx

http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...idProduct=6306

http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...idProduct=7993

And a 6x4 apc prop.
