HS-225 is the benchmark servo for the plane... 31g, mini in size. full size servos will be too heavy and wont fit the servo holes.

Thanks theKM! Over looked that this plane needed mini size servo's.

Impressive Motor

Cool and rainy in Virginia today, so no flying for me.

After reading hundreds of pages of this thread, here's the first component I bought for my 59" Slick. This is my first kilowatt motor. My old Yellow V2 SHP is running the Extreme Flight Torque 2818/900 which has been great, but that motor is only about half this size.

I'm impressed with this unit. It's like having a Small Block Chevy under the cowl.

Losi, that would be great. I've watched your videos from the sod farm, and I am humbled by your skills on the sticks. I just fly sport and am trying to learn some precision, but I Love the way these 3DHS birds fly.

If you haven't figured it out already, I bought that motor on your recommendation.

I will talk to my brother and see if he want to go on a road trip with me one weekend and we could bring the 51 slick, 70 velox, 71 slick, and 89 slick.
l just started on working on more precision flying. My point rolls look horrible. Slow rolls are nice and clean though

I've been working on point rolls with my old SHP and they are kinda ragged. Maintaining the line and precise rudder inputs are difficult for me. I've got some tail waggin' going on, when I go through the knife edge points.

We have a nice club field. It's a grass runway about 650' x 75'. Most members fly glow, with a few 50 and 100cc gassers, but they are a friendly bunch.

We welcome visitors with current AMA. Get in touch if you ever want to come up this way. There are a few photos of our field on my Blog.

Both me and my brother are current ama members. Have to have it for one of our local clubs. I will call him and see if we can make it your way some time soon.

Down to the final purchase to finish this up - should I go with the 100 amp Ice Lite or get the regular Ice 100 with the heat sink? The one with the heat sink (non-lite) is only a bit over an ounce heavier.

That depends on the motor/prop you plan to run. I use an ICE 75 on a 6s setup.

That's true....but I like the one with the heat sink as I feel it helps to keep the BEC cooler too...again, just my opinion..

I use 75Lite with Motrolfly 4315 714 with 4S battery and XOAR 15x7. It pulls 81A in peak and ESC seems to be ok. It's not right and not safe, but I try to keep plane as light as possible.

I am going with the 100A lite with a separate 10A bec. This seemed to be the general consensus many pages back.

I received my Motorfly 4315-714kv yesterday and I have to say I am quite impressed. This thing is a monster =)
