Seba's Zen Has Landed!

Received a package just yesterday from Seba of Storm Composites, a new Zen Kit sporting a single piece AR11 wing. Seba posted it late last week, and it showed up on the radar as it was sorted thru Warsaw. Next thing I know it has landed in Jamaica Plains, New York. From there it moved to Hartford, Connecticut and Storrs, just a few miles from my place in Coventry.

I missed the first delivery attempt so I drove over to the post office and picked it up.

First impression is that the package is unscathed. Very good shape. Home we go.

Opening the package, it is apparent that Seba's attention to detail in his composite work extends to his packaging. Excellent packing. No issues with getting this kit to me in great shape. Wing, fuse, tails, carbon bits all fine.

I'll post more info as my time allows. The Zen has landed!

Put things on the digital scale. Here's what I measure:

Wing (single piece, no hardware) 119.8g

Fuse (no pylon on this one), with two wing mount screws: 41.6g

Vertical Fin: 8.6g

Horizontal: 4.9g

V-mount includes all hinging, horn and tab for mounting into horizontal: 1.0g

Carbon T-Peg (I asked for a wide one): 1.4g

Carbon Flaperon horn: 0.2g each

Carbon Rudder horn: 0.2g

Wings are very thin. I have some Hyperion DS09s on hand and it looks like they will just fit with maybe 1mm to spare placed close to the wing root. They are 9mm thickness.

Seba has just posted the wing servo location on the Neos thread. 10mm from center, 30mm from leading edge, shaft faces away from centerline.

No problem Seba! I'll happily take the first pull in the interest of getting the Zen off the ground on this side of the Big Pond. My technique will have to make up for that 10g penalty!

PS Pix are on my to-do list.

Yo Folks, I have a day job so I need to pretend that I am working on that so my clients stay sane. And May is always crazy (three birthdays, Mothers Day and opening the camp in Maine)......

I will definitely post pix when I get some breathing room!!

Airframe Coming Together

Been working on pulling the pieces into a single unit. So far have the tails on, the servo bays cut and servos are test fit. Whew, those Hyperion DS09 just fit flush with the foam fully removed to the top skin. I am doing a topdrive installation which I find to be pretty easy and fast.

Doing a spring on the V-mount a la Dani in recent posts on Seba's Neo Thread. The strings for the rudder and elevator are pulled and tied off at the pod and control horn ends. No servos in place yet.

A couple pixs are attached.
