Guillows Typhoon conversion

This is going to be my second rubber conversion. I will be using the SPMAR6400, 2x 1.5g servos and the motor, gearbox and prop from a UM P-51.
Enjoy
Nathan

Looks good so far!
The 900 series kits make great conversions using the equipment you have selected.
I did the Trojan and Skyraider and have the Tiffie kit waiting.
Do check the wing incidence on the plan side view. I raised the trailing edge about 1/8" on my conversions to cut down on excessive climb under power.
I also made a spar joiner box that extends through the fuselage. The 1/16 x 1/8 spars were left long and they meet inside the box.

Thanks for the tips. I hope it won't be too heavy. I'm hoping for a weight of 40-45g.

It will fly great at that weight. You will have more power than you need and I think it will cruise at about half throttle. Both my 900 conversions do and they are about that weight.

Yes, I would skip the rudder and add ailerons.
Once the model drops a wing tip, the rudder will probably not bring it back= spin, crash.
Dihedral will help, but this is a fighter, might as well build it as one.
You can keep the rudder, but I would strongly suggest ailerons on that model.
Don't forget to mount everything as far forward as possible to get the proper cg.
Remove as much material as possible aft of the trailing edge. Hog out the middle of the formers with a sanding drum.
I cut new formers out of 1/32 sheet and laminate the tail surface outlines.

Yes I will have ailerons. The servo leads are too short so I had to rig up a bellcrank system. I coverd the fusalage last night, and the total weight is 32 grams with battery. I am going to have a hidden pushrod system for the ailerons. I will post more pics tonight.
