Plane & Heli: how many gauges, dials and switches ar optimal

Hi guys

I am helping a company designing a top line transmitter. I am a pilot myself. Off course I was looking at all the to line transmitters that are currently out there. We would like to leave some room for user config of the transmitter. However that freedom can not be unlimited. So, we thought of the following:

impulse switches
- student
-

2 pos (on off) toggle switches:
- landing Gear
- Light
- 1 - 2 spare
Total of 4

3 pos (on off on) toggle switches
- flight phase like landing, start, normal, thermal, speed, acro
- flight phase
- 1 - 2 spare
Total of 4

safety switches
- motor cut or motor armed
- landing gear locked
- nil spare
Total of 2

Summing up in 10 switches in all

Gauges: We think linear sliders should be omitted, in favour of any kind of turning knobs as these can be sealed off better. Number of gauges apart from the sticks:
- flaps
- butterfly / break (when not operated by gas stick)
- 2 for trimming other than stick controlled functions
- do you prefer encoder style or in/dec style trims?
- 4 spare
Total of 6

Kindly let your opinions flow

greets

chris

Keep it simple with Fully Assignable Control Switch, Knob, Stick and Digital Trims.
To many switches can create confusion and errors.

Same or another new system?
