Finally started work

Today was just a push to get started... so far I have cut the shape of the outer section of the wing. And what's left is to sand/shape these pieces of foam and to sand shape the wooden tailpieces.

Here are some pics... if you see any way off errors let me know...

My plan is to bag at least two wings...

Oh and any suggestions on bagging the tail pieces. I know the grain of the vstab is probably the wrong way, but it was the only way I could get the all the pices out of that one piece of balsa.

Add a small piece of Kevlar around the bottom of the tail. Just the leading edge. This will prevent and damage when the ship lands. Once its bagged it will be very hard and resistent to dings on the leading edge. If your using kevlar on the whole tail disregaurd. If glassing use the glass on the 45. Again if you have some scrap kevlar around put a piece across the hinge line. After the tail cures you can use it as a hinge. Works good

I have glassed foam core (foam similar to Hi-load) tails like this (front is sheared 0.75 oz glass, back is 0.75 oz glass ona bias). I also had glassed balsa tails like this. In both cases 0.75oz glass worked ok as a hinge (preferably use the sheared piece of glass as a hinge).
