Budget Setup for Supra
I want to convert my Supra to Electric. I will compete in the limited height launch where the launch is limited to 200m and 30 seconds motor on. Would appreciate any advice on low cost motors, 3S (limited space) and prop sizing which would launch a 2-2.5kg glider in 30 seconds to 200m.

I was wondering if an outrunner would do the trick, like Suppo or E-flite. Does anybody know how much power is required for a 2-2.5kg model to launch at a respectable (not vertical!) speed.

I'm a big fan of Neu motors etc. when you need the absoslute best, but like most things, you can get 80% of the performance for 30% of the price. I also have a couple Hyperion controllers and they perform well.

These two ARE outrunners. I don't think any DD outruner will fit (and give you the 8m/s climb rate), but these geared outrunners fit well, give excellent performance, and aren't too expensive.

BTW my first Supra-e was also a modified glider. Cutting the glider fin and pod and using a stock electric nosecone makes this an easy modification. Neil. |

Thanks for attributing Hyperflight Eric.

When using the Hyperion outrunner in my Topaz, I had to run the wires externally, but the new mounting method that Hyperion has for sailplanes might fix that.
