what are most of you guys using for your throws? I'm 50/50 on aileron/elevator mixing and as I have things setup now I have around +/- 11mm at full elevator up/down -- Not sure what it is with full elevator and aileron together.

What's the next step up from this setup? I want something a bit faster.

Another good motor option for mid range speed is Sunnysky x2204.
Anybody who's into 250 fpv quads probably have a few these laying around
along with a 12amp ESC and a few Gemfan 5x3's.

Like Andy said, go the HK 24g 3000kv. Very powerful for its weight. It'll draw up to 27A with the right pack/prop. The Bonsai is limited a bit in speed by the high drag of the surface so most motors will only get it to a certain point but the 24g 3000kv will push it well past that limit. Good training for planes that are designed to go faster.

Yep, that motor rocks! I've used both of these
http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking...er_3000kv.html
http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking...or_3000kv.html
as well as the Blue Wonder version. Difficult to pick between them so just go for what's in stock/local. Some esc's don't like the high kv but this one works and is cheap
http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking...hless_ESC.html but you might need to opt for the 30 amp version if over propping the motor.
I do think that my scratch built KFm-4 wing of a similar size was faster on the same set up. It might be possible to coax a bit more speed out of the airframe by covering with laminating film.
Here's an example of how fast the motor can power a model where it's got a nice aerodynamic shape
The Wicked Little Babyshark Depron foamie RC micro speed plane (3 min 17 sec)

Just mental I reckon it would crush most "100 mph" out of the box RTF/ARTF's . Would love to see one race against the Durafly EFX racer and HK Funfighter Rare Bear on 3s

The nanoplanes people from that video recommend the ZTW ESCs because they have the higher frequency that the motor apparently needs. The Blue Series ESCs on HK (and Mystery ESCs) are made by ZTW and have the same high frequency. I usually just use the 20A Blue Series if I'm not going to be up around 27A for more than a few seconds. Works a treat. Awesome little motor.
