inspire people for F3K

Hey f3k folks!

My name is Dennis Westhoff, I think some of you might know me because of my f3k videos.
The problem I am facing at the moment is the fact that the Internet remembers everything we do, and at the same time it forgets so unbelievably quickly. And I donít think I am the only one who is a bit worried about this fact.

I recently made a video about the Vibe f3k and postet it into the "vibe-thread". I got a lot of feedback, and suddenly the actual post of the video is on a page nobody knows, and so it is forgotten. None finds it anymore. And the more feedback I got, the faster the video was forgotten.
The point is that I shoot video to inspire people, and the worst thing that could happen is not being able to do that.
Even if a made a video for the Chili f3k or the Vibe f3k or some other planes, I donít want you to fully see them as commercials. They should be an inspiration for everyone! People should know how much fun F3K is. They should start trying this hobby with whatever plane they want!

So maybe you can help me! What is the best way to inspire people who have never heard of f3k?

Keep the VIBE - F3K DLG (4 min 26 sec)

HI Dennis
I was disappointed in the end of the vid where the girl is ditched, Should show flying as inclusive especially since f3k means competition. The girl should have shown up with her own vibe at the end and kicked his butt..

Keep up the vids . Close up video tours of airframes are especially appreciated.

Outstanding. As have been your other videos. You are very talented. ( And I guess you invest a lot of hard work.)

Keep it up - the filming in general, and especially showcasing the fascination of F3K.

Thanks!

Denis,

I love your video's!
I give a couple of lectures a year on F3K to different clubs in our country and I use your videos in those lectures.
They have an incredible affect on people of all ages.
We have a local forum in which we opened a thread for aero gliding movies and your movies are imbedded there as well.

Keep up the good work, it has already inspired many F3K pilots in Israel and next month I give another lecture to young aeromodelers and I will show them your movies again.

Big thanks on all the hard work you put in!

Roy

Simple fix - The text message should have read "You better not break *my* plane!"
And then reshoot the second half of the video with her flying instead.

(It was featuring a pink Vibe afterall )

Already beat you to it in the original Vibe thread.

But yeah, something about a "girl and her Vibe" just screams for some grade-school humor.

Totally. You've inspired me.

As rapidly as these beautiful planes are developed and just as quickly all but disappear, and as many cool design details and idiosyncrasies as they have, I know I would very much enjoy seeing near-pornographic detail of the aircraft that is featured. I mean crazy lingering macro slider stuff, so I can see how the pushrods are exited, and what kind of hardware is bolting down the wing. Maybe even parts of a build. Point being: really lingering on some footage of the car before it takes to the track.

You're shooting the best video in this category. Please keep it up!

how nice is that! Thank you so much!
It is so cool to hear, that you show the videos to other people as well! This is amazing!

I fully understand you. It was the very first time I tried to put a tiny bit of storytelling into an f3k video. I think it worked out well, although there are still many thinks that could be improved. So I'm looking forward to the next video...as long as you can improve, it has to make fun

To everyone who also shoots videos, I can give one advice:
When you watch a video or a movie in the cinema, then you can judge whether this was a good or not so good movie. So if you shoot your own video, try to find out as well wether this was good or not so good. Although it is probably much worse than a movie in the cinema, try to look at it with the same eyes. And then work out which changes could make your video better and better! And when you're finished, you have to be able to tell to yourself: Things may not be super perfect, but even if I invest additional 100 hours in editing, I would not know how improve it! You have to be happy with every single second of your video! And als always, try to make your next video a bit better that the one before. Always improve, never stand still

best regards,
Dennis Westhoff

How to inspire - I think Thomas Lee has started a critical step - Entry level performance gliders - (check out his "Go" project)

Ive started a couple people on easy gliders - they have a BLAST for a short period then they look at a molded CF glider and state they may never get to that level because its too expensive. I would like to see glass a foam models at $250 - that would lower one barrier -

Exposure - ill bet if we did presentations in middle schools every year we would get at least 3 interested potential new pilots in our clubs.

For me the thing that sparked my interest was a TV show in the 80's showing some free flight models - the idea they introduced was that - All around us was this invisible heat energy. IT amazed me to see there was all this thermal energy to be harnessed. Then they went right into airfoil design - lift and drag. I think I had a balsa model in my hand the next weekend and I was modifying it as soon as I could. Now for me I could not get into RC for another 20 years... why ? $$$ So if we want to inspire - we also have to be prepare to sponsor and help.
