hyperion prop adapter

I need prop adapter for a Hyperion Z4020-12 motor. As these are discontinued motors I am unable to find any prop adapters. I think a T-MOTOR ( PAO20) would fit. Any suggestions.

Are those collet type prop adapters? If so they can be bought from Maxx Products and many other places. I ask that because that is what Hyperion shows here:

Here is a U.S. place that has a lot of types and sizes of adapters:

Cessna 180...

I have a similar thread that I started a month or so ago. I came up empty. I called Allerc and Randy from RC Dude. They seemed to think that the prop adapter for Hyperion was different than other manufacturers. There motors are similar to Scorpion so maybe a scorpion adapter would work. If you have luck finding one please let me know.

I assume you are looking for the bolt on prop drive, as just about any 6mm collet prop adapter could be used.

Have a look though this site, it looks like there is a bolt on prop adapter for the Z40 series.

That site is in Australia or Austria and the prop adapter is $28 or $43 plus shipping.

I could probably make one on my mill and lathe if I really had to, or maybe modify an existing one. Thanks for the link though.

It was the first site that came up in a search that had a picture, there may be others.

I ordered a bolt on prop adapter from Ready Made RC part # PA020 8mm ccw . I think it may fit. I will let others know when it arrives.

The T- Motor bolt on prop adapter that I ordered part # PA020 DOES NOT fit a Hyperion Z4020-12 motor. After some thought I think I will press out the shaft and reverse it. I think it should work and use a straight adapter. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

These two threads are examples of how to modify shafts for reversing or adapting other shafts from one motor to another:

Making and Replacing a Brushless Motor Shaft - http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1240725

HexTronik DAT-750/DT750 Replacing a Shaft - http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=1080

The essential changes needed in the process are to sometimes have to add a snap ring groove and/or flats on the shaft for grub screws to bear on. And maybe remove a little bit of length in the adapted shaft. Other than those changes the important considerations are that of removing and replacing the shaft without damaging the bearings and other motor parts and that is easy enough to master.

For a multicopter (with their inherent inability to glide to a safe dead stick landing) I would probably use the set screw type prop adapters to reduce the chance of losing one in flight. I would add a small flat on the shaft for the set screw to bear down on and that and tiny drop of blue Loctite on the screw would make it nearly impossible to lose in flight.

Here is a good source for the adapters:

http://www.maxxprod.com/mpi/mpi-291.html

What they refer to as a 5/32" and 4mm adapter is actually a 4mm prop adapter that is a little less the 5/32". They just used the fact that 4mm (0.1575") is nearly 5/32" (0.15625"/3.96875mm). It never occurred to them that some old machinist would know that 4mm and 5/32" are two different sizes...
