Which controls

I am a newbie with DLG. I have been mostly flying 4 -6 channel electric planes in mode 2.
When I set up a rudder and elevator only glider, do I hook up the rudder to the airelon channel. This would seem more normal to me rather than have my fingers (or thumbs) on both sticks. What is the usual way a two channel DLG is set up.

Thanks

Typically you do move the rudder to the aileron channel.

In mode 2, right stick is pitch and roll regardless of what surface you use to produce those motions. On a R/E glider the rudder is your roll surface so it goes on the right stick.

Thanks for a quick reply. The link was a very comprehensive answer and it was in line with what I was thinking. It is the most natural way to fly mode 2.

Or better, set the rudder on the rudder channel and mix it to your ailerons. that way both sticks can be used to control.

Absolutely! If your radio can do this, this is a good approach.

I still move the rudder to the aileron channel as a matter of standard set-up. But I do set up a rudder to ailerons mix so that both sticks move the rudder. As I am a winch launcher and primarily use the rudder to manage the launch it is important that that left stick always move the rudder.

If I want yaw on the launch or in a thermal, I use the left stick.
If I want roll I use the right stick.

Makes no difference if I have ailerons or not, that right stick does the same thing on all my aircraft and the rudder on the left is always active regardless of where it is plugged into the receiver.

Slowly, weather and some medical work on my right shoulder (my throwing arm) have stopped me for a while, should be back into it very soon.
