Aha, I wasn't aware of the fact that the motormounts in that boat covered the cooling slots of the motorcan.

Having air flow through the armature makes a world of difference in how hot the motor gets, specially if the motor has a built in fan; without the slots at the other end open, the fan is useless...

Pompbled, no cooling fan. Wish there was. But having a little more air certainly can't hurt. Harry

Well I did what Pompbled had mentioned, and after talking with H Lauer.
Once that was done I remounted the motor and ran it. Got a bit warm and nothing more.
Put the belt on and it got good and hot.

Seems that I had the belt too tight. Now it runs smooth as silk and the motor only get a bit warm.

That is why I prefer, a geared reduction unit. It puts less strain on both the motor, and, the output shaft. I am glad you found the problem.
