A new way of going from vertical to forward flight.
Had a G+ hangout with Mat Wellington earlier and I think the bloke is a genius.
Near the end we discuss his flying bedstead which pivots motors back when in forward flight.

You might consider Kickstarting your project, I can see it with 3D printed parts and a foam wing.
I can also the integration of a new control method, we should probably all be moving away from traditional RC controllers. VTOLs are only hard to move forward because we are processing how they do it with our thumbs and switches. If it was just tap and go the controller handles what becomes yaw and roll depending on the required flight mode.
This sort of thing would be great.
Best of both worlds, some buttons and the screen. Try and find an AR.Drone and see how things can be. Then imagine them in 5 years time...
