Charles, how much is needed?

Everydayflyer, Iíve see you pots the info several times before but never really understood it and would look for it when I was in the mood.

Well the mood is right, but I canít find it  ?

How may amp-hours does it take to fill an A123?

Or, how much do you pull out of a deep cycle to Zip charge a pack and how many recharges can you do of a 80AH battery?

TIA,

Jim

My average is .66 Ah per cell. Your 10S2P would be 20X.66=13.2 Ah per charge .
How many from an 80Ah well that depends really my guess about 3.
Others have more experienc with bigger packs and smaller deep cycles. I Zip charge 3S ftrom 250 Ah but also often am using one or two other chargers at the same time. Disadvantage to Zip charging is that as supply (Pb) volts goes down so does charge rate. Carlyle Harper does I believe 24 cells at a time. He is use two 6 volt golf cart batteries in series which I believe are 100 Ah each so 12 volts and 100Ah.

Once again thanks Charles!

So, you use on average 1.98Ah to recharge a 3S (2.3Ah) pack from your 250AH deep cycle (2 in parallel).

Iím guessing that the Watts-Hrs work out since you got more volts from the Pb?

Am Engineer and get messed up thinking on the above!

Are your Pbs well matched, same age, etc.?

I have 3 of different ages and health, wonder how well I could use them in series to do the 10S2P?

Here is the graph I was looking for

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/attac...mentid=1501764

5 fiel chargers one 4S and 4 5S. Total of 24 cells. Logger between Pbs and charger which was TP1010C. 18,846 mAh (18.846 Ah ) pulled. That equaly .785 Ah per cell but TP1010C is only(?) approx. 90% effecient.

My deep cycles are a matched set. Manufactured 07/07. Always been paralleled and never discharged below 12.4 volts no load after two hours recovery.I recharge them whenever they are down 20 to 30% or at least once a week which ever comes first.

Matched is best but you can always give it a try and check each Pbs volts under load.
