Cool
Track Commerical Flights

Fellow club member sent this to me.. you can see all flights all over the world and get cockpit view via google earth. I just watched a Delta flight land at my local airport with it.
It will tell you who is flying and where they are going. These are all the aircraft in the air right now

You can see all the information instantly on your screen.

here is the site http://www.flightradar24.com/

Some tricks:

On the map you will see all the planes in the air.

To view your region or town, you can zoom in by tapping with your mouse.

Click & hold on the map to move it left or right, up & down.

Click on a airplane, and on the left screen you will get all the info, airline, type, speed, altitude in real time, re calculated every 10 seconds.

On some you can also click on ‘view from the cockpit’.

Very interesting.. If it wasn't overcast, I'm wondering if I could look up and see some of these.. I live in what looks to be a hub for crossing California. I see them all the time on a clear day.. and can get a good look at them with my binoculars. I can see that the site can be addicting... Very cool though.. Thanks for sharing.

Yea, it is easy to get hooked on the site... the only thing is that once the plane drops below about 1000 ft it it off the radar.. sury would be cool to land with the plane.

If you look at the site in the middle of the night you can clearly see where all the courier "hubs" are located. They are about the only things flying at that time of the night.

Same thing in the early AM, most of the inbound traffic to airports are the overnight couriers.

It is also interesting how the data is generated. Click on the "Increase Coverage" link across the top and it is explained.
