Goldberg Ultimate Bipe .60 size
I finished the Glow to Electric conversion of a new Goldberg kit built Ultimate Bipe.
There was a thread here but it seems to have gone... somewhere?
Anyhow, the model came out great and beyond my hopes.
Model weighs 6lbs, 14 ounces.
I use the Turnigy L5055C outrunner (700 kv).
The higher kv allows using fewer cells than a 430 or 290 kv.
Power is from a 5000 mAh, 4 cell pack swinging a 16x8 prop. On peak charge, it makes 1012 watts and flies around 750 watts at the end of the charge (6-8 minutes).
The success of this model comes from a) keeping it light and b) not over-powering it. The plane flies with incredible deftness, stays sharp, snappy, and rock solid.
Other than the above described stuff, I use an onboard 700 mAh LiFe pack to run the servos and receiver.

That looks awesome, and great to hear how well it flew. And light too - 16oz/sqft is pretty respectable.

Your battery bay solution looks particularly ingenious - more like downright brilliant. What dimensions and weight are your 4S packs? I'm now wondering whether 5S 4000 I have that should weigh about the same might be a solution for a Hyperion I have with Kv=574 that weighs just a few grams less than your motor.
4S x 700 should be similar to 5S x 560, and 5x4000 is the same energy as 4x5000

The size and weight is in the specs listed.
Thanks for the kind words. I spent a lot of time coming up with power package for the plane. Getting the combined mass of the motor, esc, and battery to be about the same as a 2-stroke .60 with 12 ounce fuel tank was important.
Everything stays nice and cool to boot. The warmest component after flight is the motor, but nothing I'm going to fret. That Turnigy L5055C motor is lighter than most 5055's and rated to handle lots of watts. I will be getting and using more of them.
Flight time is a tad shy of what I like, but it means I have to stay busy when I get up!
If I knew the whole model would have been under 7 lbs, I'd have gone to a 6000 mAh pack (and still might).
