Heinkel He 177 Project

Hello everyone.

This is my first project and any comments are most welcome!

This classic German heavy bomber, i would call it, consists of an all balsa built up fuse, with 5mm sheet balsa tail & a fixed rudder. Wingo spans at 58 inches, built up foame core with 1.5mm balsa skin laminates. Projected AUW is to be under 3 lbs.

Power systems will be a twin geared speed 400( yet confirmed, depending on AUW, )driving 7 - 8 inches prop, running with 8 x 1050 KANS or 1800 SCE. Maybe will try out those 4 bladed Vario prop with a speed 480 as an upgrade to make her looked more scale.

Below were some pictures of the model under constructions.

Mr. Loo,

I am wondering about total weight...hard for me to stay under 4 pounds with the motors, type of construction, type of batteries you list for your model.

What is the weight of the model as shown in the photos, without motors, without batteries, without receiver and servos?

I like the idea of the Vario props - I use them on my scale (and non-scale) models much of the time.

Sincerely,

Terry

Terry,

The current weight is about 350g. under the kitchen weighing scale without all hardwares. You may visit the Electric airplanes section under scale modelling cause I actually had posted wrongly regarding this subject!

Wow - I am surprised...that is very light for so much structure/size. Just the wing on my Kyosho CAP 232 weighs 494 grams...that is covered, and with two full-size servos. (Of course, it is an ARF made for internal combustion engines, so is designed much stronger than actually needed for electric-powered models.)

Good luck with it!

Terry
