Hi Bob,

Thanks for trying this. Great news on the CDR file issue. We're still looking at the speed calibration issues you reported. Got it on your vote for more resolution on the speed!

Thought I would share my RPM sensor comparison. Attached file shows graphs of slightly more than one lap of our track.

First graph is brushless motor sensor, basically uslesses

Next is the magnetic- Not bad a little noisy but definitely useable.

Last is the optical - Best of the bunch and the one I will be using for all future testing.

Note that to get the results shown I had to apply the corrective procedures to the RPM - Speed calibration I identified earlier in this thread.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for posting this. One thing occurred to me - is there a chance you are using a brushless sensor that is a few years old? Our present one looks like this.

That is exactly the sensor I am using.

I have heard from several other people who tried to use it for dyno applications and gave up because of exactly the issue I am having. One thing I haven't tried though is using it on track in "Flight" mode. With all the other calibration issues in car mode maybe that could be it. I'll give that a try next week.

Tried the RPM sensor last night in Flight Mode Results were the same as in Car mode.To many spikes and drops to make the output useable. I can post a screen shot if you like.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the update. It sounds like there may be a noise issue or other issue with the ESC's pulses that are making it incompatible with the brushless sensor. What brand/model of ESC do you have, out of curiosity?
