A small tip: If you are referring to a specific post, all posts have a unique ID. See attached picture. You can right click and copy link location and then paste it in your post. Referring to a post number certainly works, but page number might be wrong depending on peoples viewing options.

Hello all,

I am a new suscriber on this forum (but "old" reader) and I am building the IR Tx/Rx.

It's already working with DIP8 PIC12C509 and then I tried to go to SOIC version. Unfortunately, I can't program any SOIC8 12C509A !!! I have already burnt 3 of them and I have always the same message: "failed at 000h" during the verification.

I am using JDM programmer and IC-PROG. I am completly lost as it works on DIP8 version but not on SOIC (smd type) !!!

Anybody would have an idea ??? Is it due to the reference change: 12C509 to 12C509A ?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Didier

Yeah right! You seem to be doing just fine with this IR stuff. One member recently critisized your responses on this forum but I find your posts most helpful and would love to see what you are up to next. Thanks!

Hello Didier, welcome

I would say it should work with smd chip if it works with dip.
Software is written for A version.
Did you set divice type ?
Is your adapter in proper working order, are connections clean? Is it wired properly ?
If pic's did not write they may still be ok.

I am guessing it is your SOIC adapter.
I programmed a DIP 16F84A then an SN sized 12C509A.
Then I tried a different type adapter that didnt hold down my SM chips good enough and I got a failure at 000h. Look in the DIY IR thread for pictures of Koichi's adapter

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...83#post1437583

Then on his site are more pictures. Link and index in the first post of this thread on the first page. Which will always be on the first page no matter what view options are set. Thanks Michael for explaining that.

Now we need to make an index into the bit threads like that.
I would like to thank you for making this thread. I don't think I would have attempted the DIY IR till I seen the parts for the RX in this thread and the index to pages on Koichi's site.
It made me realize how simple(yeah right) it was.

Thanks a ton Billy,

I think index is great idea. A lot of threads could use it. Maybe it could be made an option or something. In meantime, maybe people starting threads they think could use it, could type index in first page, and actually start thread on second page.

Stewart,

Let me know of outcome. If they can be gotten cheaper direct from LT with that huge S&H charge something is wrong.

Farnell sells LT components, I will be calling them about getting some more hall sensors, see what they say.
