Winter...PICS

Last week in two storms we ended up with over 8inches of the white stuff and here is Saskatchewan it ain't goin anywhere anytime soon
So yesterday I went to the field took my good ole 30" Craftsman blower and cleared the SouthWest runway
Today I went to the field and flew the F1 Conversion and had a great time. One of the club members Les also showed up and his plane on Skis and two of his helis.
Temps were warm the past few days in the 20's and low 30's Sunday night it was below 0 F. I'll give temps in F for you guys south of the border
Plan on flying tomorrow till I run out of batteries or fuel for the big gasser...should be balmy in the low thirties
By the end of the winter lets see who braves the coldest temps!
POST UP YOUR WINTER PICS!

Arcticflyer I commend you on your efforts the clear the runway. Top notch.

I'm over in Ontario with no accumulation YET but its coming. I do fly all season with skis, belly landers and wheels when there is a crust but you've gone over the top!

Keep those fingers warm

My hat's off to you, sir! I learned to fly in Michigan during the 1970s. Stick time is everything at that stage, & I figured out that if I wanted to get stick time I was going to have to fly during the winter. The guy that taught me (us, really -- we were sort of a pack of young'uns) knew how to make superior skis, and the club had a small shed at the field with a stove in it. The setup was sort of like a "fish house" for ice-fishing. Once or twice when it was really cold, a guy would fly from inside the shed, holding his transmitter out the window. That was risky, of course, because if you flew overhead or behind the shed you'd lose sight of the airplane.

Ah, those were the days! It was great to be young and foolish. Now I'm just old and foolish.

Got several flights in over the last two days...it sure was worth the effort to get the runway clear...thought my season was over. Only problem is keeping the fingers and lipos warm

Winter...PICS

Great! Still positive C-grades in Scandinavia with rain, fog and pitch dark the whole time except between 9AM and 3PM . Looking forward to the snowy season now!

You my man are HARD CORE ! For me this will be my first winter in a place that has a winter in over 12 years....in florida my flying season was 11 months long.....It will take some time and hard work to get out there and practice my racing in the next couple months, but after seeing your pics i am inspired and will do a lot less biotching ....Now when i first got into this hobby back in 2000 i was living in Toledo Ohio and i had the RC bug so bad that i did much like you and it pissed off my wife bad,i would take the snow blower to the soccer fields first to clear a runway, then head back to the house to do the walk and drive ways

Had to work the whole day outside today, at -27C in the morning.
When the sun came out and the temperature wents up to -11C I really thought about flying :-)

So maybe I should try it this weekend, it will be pretty warm here in Regina (up to -1C) and nobody else than a German will be far away from downtown on this sunday, so I could do what ever I want on the airfield...
