"Straight Talk" is now just a fantasy. Illegal to unlock cell phones.
Starting today it's illegal to unlock your cell phone:
http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/now...ry?id=18319518 So after 24 years of operating/owning cell phones I came to the conclusion that the most economical path is to buy the phone you like outright with cash, and then put a pre-paid sim/plan on that phone. Of course, in order to do that, you've got to have an unlocked phone. The very day I decide to do that (having already got a great deal on a mint condition android phone last night), It becomes illegal. My life's story brings new meaning to the expression: "If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have no luck at all."  Edit: If I had unlocked the phone yesterday, I would have been grandfathered in !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (having bought the phone from a friend yesterday, and not knowing yesterday was the last day to legally unlock it) |

Just unlock it anyway or hack it. It's not hard with android phones.

Only if the phone is bought subsidized. If you buy a phone for its full value you own it.
