FFM 200 QX (Replacement airframe for the Blade 200 QX)

FFM 200 QX

Blade is making some great little quads and we like making them even better. The FFM 350 QX replacement frame is a popular upgrade for that quad and having just got a 200 QX we decided to mod it too.
The frame weight came out between 42g and 60g depending on how you build it.
The top plate is optional and provides a platform for FPV and or a Mobius HD camera. The battery can be mounted on top as well or underneath.
The landing gear is also optional. The frame weight with out the top plate and gear is around 42g. With is 60g.
We will post some build pictures shortly in post #2 but the conversion is easy. The electronics are removed from the stock frame and the plate with the control and ESC boards is cut out. The plate sandwiches between the two plywood plates and then the electronics are reinstalled. The motor mount holes even have the alignment flat spots.
Check out the pictures and ask any questions you have. As for why plywood? We have found that the plywood gives great durability for the weight, there is no signal loss with FPV like on a carbon frame and the wood tends to dampen any vibrations.

Unscrew the body screws and carefully split the top and bottom halves.
Unscrew the nuts on the motors and remove the motors.
Remove the screws holding the speed control board and lift the board. Be careful with the ribbon cable.
Remove the screws holding the control board and remove it. Lift the electronics as one assembly and set aside.
Proceed with the pictures below.

After the motors are mounted the frame will be secure and you can mount the control and speed control boards to the plastic tray.
The LEDs can be inserted into the holes in the arms. You will need to carefully bend the LED wires over so the wires lay flat.

The top plate can be mounted along with the landing gear and camera mount.
The battery can be mounted on bottom or top with a velcro strap.

Please post any questions, comments and pictures of your setups.

Isn't plywood going to make the frame heavier than stock?
Is there a weight savings with this Frame!

The plates/arms are one piece but if you need a specific replacement part I can supply it separately.

No soldering is required. The frame is designed so you can unbolt your electronics and drop them right on. You will need to cut the speed control and control board tray loose from the stock frame and reuse it.
