Almost new F5d racer
I would like to introduce my updated F5d -Flipper.
It is based on the "old" Flipper wing, which was slightly modified, but with new fuselage and tail.
Following the progress in accu-technology and drivetrain developement, the fuse is much slimmer and is able to take the new geardrives with up to 12,5" folders.
5S 2200 fits nicely splitted in 2s+3s,even 7S 1800 APL are easy to fit, but fuse frontarea is reduced to 60% of the usual commercial F5d.
As we use the Flipper to support the newbys in F5d and in composit building in germany, it is designed to be easy built, the crosstail requires less laminating experience and gives more accuracy in the elevator linkage, compared to the T-and V-tailed Flipper -versions.
The Flipper will not be sold commercially, but there will be the complete set of rental positive moulds available to open options to get into selflaminating and get your own mould for a small fee.
Even a rental negative mould will be available for those who just want to build one or two planes , but i think this may only make sense for germany and the close neighbors!
Airfoil:HS522 mod Paul Schreiber
Max FAI weight:1024g
Design: Christoph Meier, Paul Schreiber
Dusty and sticky stuff:Ralf Gockel, Marco Fichter
This is an open source projekt, the plug will travel arround germany in the next 2-3 month, maybe it will get much more milage next year so if you are interested just PM me

Very nice Yello!
Tell me, how does the wing mount work? It looks like the wing bolt holes are spaced wider than the fuselage itself. Or maybe optical illusion?

You are on the list!
Peter, you are right, the wing at the pictures is one of my old ones.
The new will get the bolting holes closer to the center.
There is also a third hole at the trailing edge prepared, we will see if its necessary.
I have flown this configuration with a mogup fuse and its quite promising. The final fuse gets moulded at the moment.

If it's going all the way to Canada then it SURELY should go through Atlanta on it's way back to Europe.
Come up when it gets here VooDoo and you and I and a friend of mine can hav a laying up get together.

First fuselage is ready.
Some of you may not like it cause its slim and light
Single fuse with motormount is 48 g (1,7oz)
Complete tail is 16g( 0,56 oz)
Fuse with tail, servo and linkage is 82g(2,9 oz)
But prototype is able to take 8S 1200 Gens Ace with a Lehner 1535 and Reisenauer Micro Edition.
I will play with the combination of GB ratios 3,5:1 ,4:1, 4,5:1 and 5:1 and Lehner 1535/9 and 1535/ 11 to find the best setup for 5- 8cells.
Drivecalc promises freakin Eta numbers at up to 2,5 kw static!
All over weight is calculated to 900g at 8S ;maybe i will build a 4 flap wing which would add about 35g.
Wing still has to wait until i finished the builders -workshop next week.
