Well, I've put this off long enough, I guess. This might be my last upload unless I find some more mags, or decide to repost the 1960-1977 on this thread. That should only take 4 or 5 months.

Let me try this again, this time with some plan files.
I figured I'd include a couple articles from almost back to the dark ages of RC just to let the younger flyers out there get an idea of what many of us went through. Things like building your own servos, and installing an escapement in a plane.
I have a completely flyable Top Kick, built from the Jetco kit rather than from the plan. Had an interesting time when I was trimming it out. Just a gentle hand launch from shoulder level, about a 150' circle, and it passed out of reach over my head. Thought I was going to lose it, but then about another half circle, it started losing altitude. Must have just caught the end of a thermal breaking loose from the ground. I finally took to heart advise printed in a number of FF articles, always set the Dethermaliser before letting the plane go, even on test glides. Never needed a DT in any contest I competed in, but I have lost a lot of FF planes just sport flying.

Can you get a higher resolution scan of the Twin's Special proto speed plan? That's the lower half of file "Twin's Special CI Proto Speed Sept 62 MAN P-1.pdf"

Proto Speed designs usually look neat and the contest format sounds like fun.

A couple days ago I was thinking about some of the FF (and one of my early RC) planes that went out of sight forever. Wondering how much organic matter was contributed to the countryside. And how long did it take for the landing gear wire and engines to finally turn to dust?
I must not be using my time well if I can waste it on this kind of stuff.

'Fraid not, at least not easily. I think I did put the mag away and stored the box in a U-Store unit, although many of the mags had to be disposed of due to condition. I'm not sure at this point, but I think when I got the Scanner/Printer/Copier I use last year, I did set things to 600 DPI because my wife wanted to be able to copy and print photos, and didn't want to be constantly resetting.

Nice: the lines look much sharper in this scan

It is really better if you can at 400 dpi and in gray scale. That way you eliminate the yellowing in the back ground and then just posterize to 2 colors and erase any remaining black dots. A lot of times if the images is scanned in color it is almost impossible to obtain a decent full size PDF of the design.

A few people have asked for this plan so I went to the printers today and had it scanned.

Thanks for posting the Fly Baby plans. I once had a kit of this plane designed for CO2 FF but never finished it. I have wanted to try again and use micro RC components now that they are available.
