The C.G., or at least the way I always do all my planes, is within the 80-85mm parameter for balance, with the battery in, retracts up, and a 4 oz. lead Pyramid directly under the motor. Balance is as good as I'm gonna get it...God knows I've had ample time to do it. But I find with the bigger planes (everything above 650mm span) I have, they seem to do pretty well with a 10-15mph headwind, and the bigger they get, the less they get knocked around, so it'll only be flown in those conditions (waited THIS long, and I got plenty more stuff to fly), so now just waiting for a day like that to happen, and she'll FINALLY fly...

Sold my old P47 that was kit built with a lightweight motor, building a new one, will be a little interesting figuring this out, since the instructions are rudimentary at best.

EC3 or EC5 for a 4s4000 lipo? Will have to go back through thread to figure battery location/foam cutting.

Does the little plastic pocket near the bomb connection allow you to install a servo and do a bomb drop?

Think mine's a V2, that's what the box says anyway. No plywood or relief for some in the area where the wing root bolts in. Don't know what other things to look for.

The foam channel over the retract wiring and the spar clamps, is that covering piece supposed to come off? Other people have taken it off but mine seems glued in.

Aside from raking the retracts, what other mods for a new stock Jug?

I am using EC5 on all planes 4 cell and above, buts that's just my preference. The wing spar channel is removable and with a slight pull it will come off due to it being glued from the factory.
Some mods that may be needed prior to flight with this model

1. A Standoff for the flimsy push rods (This upgrade is very important)
2. Gear rake if flying from grass. Install plywood sticks for more angle and a stronger base mount.
3. Plywood bases epoxied in wing root pockets to screw mount through fuse.
4. Aquarium silicone glue the wing roots for rock solid wings with very minimal flex (and are easily removed later if needed).

If I bought a new FMS P47 1400mm Green. Would it have metal or plastic trunions?

They are plastic. You can replace with metal one using FMS retract 003

Dusted off my FMS 1400mm P-47 in the discontinued "Jacky's Revenge" color scheme. It had been over a year since I have flown her. A friend took some amazing photos. This bird is running a Turnigy SK3 5045-500kv on a 5s Lipo. Smok'n fast! Unlimited vertical performance. Quite a presence at the field.

Even though I wish FMS would do a version 2 of this plane. It's still a great flyer.

It dusted off very well. Still a nice looking plane you have there.
