Amrmatt,

As Bryan suggested - fly it!! The non-stabilized Beast is a dream to fly. She's an impeccable flier in calm conditions & light breezes, and does exactly what you tell her to do. The Beast 3D does fly a lot bigger, but the V1 still flies pretty big for such a tiny bipe. The biggest difference between the two in flight is how they behave in gusts & turbulence. The V1 Beast handles a crapload of wind & turbulence for such a small plane, but the AS3X version's ability to handle full-scale weather is nothing short of jaw-dropping. Here's a clip I shot of both planes back when the new version came out, which compares the two in a fairly stiff breeze:

UMX Beast 3D vs Beast V1 in the wind (17 min 4 sec)

+100!! Joel and Bryan are absolutely right. I have both V1 and B3D and LOVE 'em both.

I keep my V1 in my work office on display most of the time. Folks really enjoy looking at it and are always impressed by it's looks and quality...
and that it's a cool part of rc aviation history!

But I do pull it out for some super fun flying on calm days. I'm not as aggressive with it as with my B3D simply because it can't be easily replaced.

But it's still such a sweet flier. And sometimes it's really fun to fly without AS3X...just for grins. And like the B3D, the original "Lil Beastie" always brings my face big s!!

Hope you really enjoy yours!

Tom

If there is no wind, and you are not doing prop hanging flight, you will never notice the lack of AS3X

Hello everybody

Hey I been out of action for a few months due to the slow oilfield. I sold all my stuff to ebay in a fit of anger over oil and work. Lol! Well I couldn't stand it anymore. I got me a new DX7gen2 the other day and a couple favorite micros. Here is my question and probably is no answer but I was thinking y'all might have found some tricks. I was in the process this morning moving pushrods in on a beast and habu and was fixing to get the dreaded needle nose out to bring surfaces flush. This is always hit and miss and very frustrating with those u bends. It's like squeeze em and the memory pulls to same... Put out a little more and you will collapse them! Making them longer is different story. Does anyone have a better technique for me? Thanks for any help, and it's GREAT to be back tearing up my airspace! Roger if your reading stand by for battery request..... Oh man I have to say the New DX7 is GREAT! I mean if you only need 7 channels.. Lol

A Thought!

You know after flying my brand new BEAST set up just the way I like it for about 45 minutes... I was getting ready to box it up and a simple thought occurred to me. It's funny I spent two years of my life saving every penny I could to buy a particular car I thought I had to have, and in the end a 139 dollar 2 oz physics defying airplane makes me the happiest. So I took this picture. Life's a trip

Well said sir ! I love flying my bigger planes, but I'm telling you when it's just me and the beast and everything is just right... That's when I'm really getting the most out of this hobby! GO BEAST !

RemE,

How's it going? It's been a long time since I've bumped into you on the UM/UMX threads.

Hey Joel,

Doing well! Been flying very little, multi-rotors and hybrids mostly. A bit too much work these last couple of years have sapped my play time, need to retire! Anyhow, still have my Beasts and do monitor and enjoy this thread still!

Pound for pound, the UMX series are the best R/C models ever made. Can't fly one without a smile.

Technically ....

This doesn't belong in this thread, but I cant help it. This is my favorite thread on the site and I did search for this idea and found it on rc groups. I just want to show how well I think this works, and it may help a fellow UMX BEAST fan. I never bought a tx case but soon found out when I joined my club and traveling it was a must. For some reason I just didn't like the commercial ones. I mean don't get me wrong the ones I did like I just couldn't justify the money. Anyway here is mine! 11 dollar Plano 4 pistol carry case and 5 minutes with exacto. Well made functional and just plane awesome. I mean it's a pistol case packing my radio
