Most heli ball links have a slightly larger cup on one side of the link, but I cannot remember if these do.
Washer goes on top of the ball link, between the bolt head and ball link. The other washer goes between the nut and the servo arm. However you can add an additional washer between the ball link and servo arm and in some cases may be necessary for clearance.

I was just surprised. I have or have built 12 different helicopters and none have ever had the washer on that way. And no Helis I've ever even looked at in pictures have had it that way. And Helis have serious ball link needs. Learned something new.

Pretty sure the picture I posted above is from a heli. So now you can say you have seen it on a heli.

I follow the washer on the outside and I understand why it's there, but I have never once heard of anyone popping off a ball link before on a plane. Buggies or SCT yes, planes no.

Well learn something everyday. Look thru the manuals of the top 20 helis sold in past 5 years and not one I know of does it that way. I own Protos, Compass 6hv, Logo 550, Oxy 3, Gaui 255, Raptor 550' Align 500 and 700' Blade 400' blade 180' Synergy E5, Goblin 700. And those are just what I've built much less seen.

It's a good idea but it looks like it could limit the link, but probably not. It's a good idea. But perhaps on the helis it's just not the norm.

And like its said these shouldn't come off anyway even without the washers.

Even though I doubt it could come apart, everyone has certain things that give them an acceptable comfort level. So for me, I would hate to lose a plane because I didn't use this seemingly insignificant little washer.
