Alert
RCG Video Gallery Gone!

Because it's easier to got the Youtube website? Really? Last time I checked, neither YouTube nor Vimeo had folders for specific kinds of RC videos.

The videos in the gallery have been scattered into various forums and threads.

Uploading videos is no longer allowed - only links.

"Effective immediately, RCGroups has discontinued its "Video Gallery" section.
Videos posted in this section have been moved to relevant areas, where they will
remain visible. New video uploads will not be accepted.

You are receiving this email because you participated in some way in the Video
Gallery section, either by uploading a video or commenting on an upload.

Thank you for your interest in this feature. The decision to close it was not
an easy one for us but given the easy accessibility of services like youtube and
vimeo, we felt that having our own Video Gallery section was simply unnecessary.

We hope that you continue to share videos at RCGroups using youtube or vimeo
links.

Also, if you like watching videos at RCGroups, make sure to use the new "Recent
Videos" link found in the site footer."

Did I miss something? Was any feedback taken from members to decide if it was "unnecessary"?

"New video uploads will not be accepted."

True, RC Groups does not need to actually accept uploads and host videos anyway. Most of the videos in the Video Gallery were links to off-site hosting. Youtube, vimeo etc.

A specified area to organize these video links was convenient.

I see no reason not to bring it back and just allow embedded videos only.

The Recent Videos Page
Our Recent Videos page shows every YouTube and Vimeo link posted on RCGroups.com.
This page is sortable by the channels, airplanes, helis, multirotors, boats, cars and sailplanes.
We are also adding an FPV channel so you will soon be able to sort by that too.
You can use the advanced search and sort by the video category to find the old videos that were uploaded to RCG and moved out of the video forums.
Remember that only videos uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo can be embedded on RCG.

Knowing that the recent video section is sortable is helpful instead of just random recent videos.

Thanks

I removed all the text on that post. Just delete it completely if you want.

Thanks,

James

I'm not sure what the quot above means but the ability to post images and files will not be removed. We recently added some new file types that can be uploaded.

with phone line download that concise no-frills archive was the only way for me to navigate rcg from my parents house. and i know at least 2 others in a similar fix.

ive gotten use to the new high tech regular forum and probably better to spend time with the family for at least a couple days a week anyway. but losing the gallery is a big drawback because i cant do flashmedia on any of my machines due to legal and resource issues. the comment about files and pics was over reacting but i must remember the glass is full. half may be air but it is full. this is a great forum.

(thanks snoorgtees)

Is it possible to access the archive to retrieve videos? I can think of a few that I wish I had saved.

The videos were all moved into the forum. You should be able to use the search function to find the videos you are looking for.
