Scratch-build depron Beaufighter

Just thought I'd put a few pictures up that I snapped at the field yesterday of my pal Ken's latest OD model. Ken has had great success with a whole series of small electric twins and has deveoped the technique of depron skins, with balsa spars and formers, "glassed" with WBPU and a cheap and cheerful brushless outrunner set-up.

Here is the lovely little 42" span Beaufighter prior to he maiden flight, so not yet painted. The model is based around those nice little cowls that are retreived from food packaging. I'll get some more details of the set-up when I see Ken again, but for now here's some pictures.

That's going to look fantastic when it's painted!
Beautiful job.
Wish we had those 'food packaging' cowl over here!

How did the maiden go?

Mmmm.. I likes Beau's. One of my first Airfix models. Left it on the package shelf of the car when I was ~7, and it melted.

I'll be watching for details.

Very nice, really good work with the depron. Have you flown her now? Also what scheme are you going for...a late Coastal Command finish perhaps?

Stuart.

Here's a picture of the Beau at our fun fly yesterday, ready for bungee launching. She flew beautifully and Ken opted for a scheme used in the Western Desert, rather than the Coastal Command scheme.
