Help!
GPS module burnt?

Hello
I have a GPS module like this one.
It was ok until I have powered the APM in the same time with the USB and external bec (on the digital side) if I remember well. From that point I have no more power led (and obviously no 3d fix led) and is not detected anymore. So I guess is burnt. My questions are:
1. is there any way to save it? Maybe replacing a resistor or something?
2. what to do in the future to prevent this king of mishap?

Please advise if you know. If needed I can take a better picture of the device.

If you're for sure you shorted it you most likely burned one of 3 parts- a larger input/filter CAP, a protection diode (tho usually those don't burn from just reverse polarity, you would of also had to supply it with to high a voltage) or an on-board regulator.

If you can take some really good macro pic's of both sides we can try to help you more.

none of the parts look burnt, the only thing that looks weird is that blue rectangle in the middle.

the only not too bad thing is, is that these gps/mag are super cheap these days.
