Hanger rash is bad enough but a handfull of bad launches has had the nose break off a couple times. Jepes wing mount is fantastic but still not enough to keep the fuse from cracking after a bad launch. The nose on mine is completly epoxy and glassed, the wings as well. The rest is wpb and glass. The wings need epoxy to hold in the washout as they come with washin. You'll want to glass the intakes with epoxy to hold up to many landings so ya... almost the entire model. Don't worry she can handle it. And its well worth it.

My F-18 finally arrived this evening. Managed to resist opening it up for now but I've got a few days off work coming up and I might just have to check it out

Craig, glad you have yours.
I actually took mine out of the box yesterday and started sanding the pieces preparing them for assembly.
Still haven't decided on the color scheme I will be going with.

Good luck on yours and enjoy!
Kerry

Hey Craig I got mine the same day as you. I opened it as soon as it arrived. I like to check everything is ok. I'm unsure at the moment. I'm considering a 100mm EDF or my turnigy xk4074 B 1400 kv inrunner and an 11X8 prop and 4s lipo. The amps will be high but if I add the sharp trailing edges to the vert and horizontal stabs to trim off as much drag as possible maybe just maybe I can gain some speed with this thing. I'll not start right away but at least I know now what needs re enforced after the first build.

Are you going to post your build here Craig?

Hi Shane,

I will be posting the build on here once I get it started. I'm going for a pusher setup similar to your original one. I'm going to go with the Turnigy 3536/9 910kv with an 11x6 prop on 4s (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html)

As for colours, I'm looking at the Agressor schemes and I think I'll go for the one in the foreground of the attached picture,

The aggressor scheme will look great. I thought of that as well at one point.

Shane,

I have a big flying weekend coming for me in July. Will have video of it then. Will play around with wing cams as well. When I get time to fly the weather hasn't been the best. Still too early in the season for stable weather.

You guys that have put retracts in this plane, I have a question for you.
What retracts are/did you use?
I want to use electric retracts and need to know what has worked well so I don't have to re-invent the wheel.
Thanks,
Kerry

Started getting the parts together to fit out the F-18.
Bought this pilot from Hobbyking. Maybe a little bit too large for scale but I think it looks the part.

I'm going to do a bit of detailing in the cockpit and add an ejection seat and instrument panel.
